Sharing a beautiful gardening experience with you.

It was the trip in 1998 to the Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island that inspired Jan to start her garden at Coucals.

This presentation captures the beauty of a range of gardens in Canada and Europe including the Minter and Butchart Gardens in Canada, Sissinghurst in England,  Monet’s Garden in France and a Baroque Garden in Italy.

The trip continues through the temple gardens in China, capturing the oriental architecture.

To cap it off, your adventure takes you through some wonderful gardens in Ireland including; Powerscourt, Bantry House, and Illnacullin.

This can be done as a powerpoint presentation showing;

· What is growing at Coucals throughout the seasons.

· How the borders and terraces are planted.

· Planting companions and where to plant them in the garden

Jan can bring cuttings of plants that are flowering and featuring in the garden at that time and a talk on them.

Having grown orchids for over 40 years, Jan shows how to grow these enticing plants in Brisbane.  Each variety is covered separately covering their ideal situation for growing and flowering.  Potting, watering and lighting details are covered and explained in full.

As well as showing examples of all the orchids covered, the slide show presents them in their full flowering glory.

In 2009 Jan and Jim were lucky to go to Japan just as the Cherry Blossom season was beginning.  This tour starts at Tokyo and takes a look at some of Japans most beautiful gardens.  Traveling from Kanazawa to Kyoto which justifiably is the most famous area for beautiful gardens and then onto Hiroshima.  Along the way Jan has tried to capture some philosophy behind Japanese Gardens and the fascinating history going back centuries.
